STEAMS LAB JAPAN Science Kits & Toys SMRT006 Editorial Review
**** The Smartivity Water Moving Robot Crane Craft Kit has made quite an impression among both children and their accompanying adults, serving as an engaging educational tool that blends learning with play. Ideal for ages 8 and up, this STEAM-focused DIY kit not only allows children to assemble a crane but also provides insight into the mechanical workings and principles of hydraulics using water as a power source. Users have reported a fulfilling experience as they work hand-in-hand with younger family members, promoting bonding and teamwork during the assembly process. The parts are designed for ease, often simply requiring rubber bands for attachment, which significantly reduces assembly stress. Though some complexities exist due to the number of parts, the step-by-step illustrated manual—similar to what one might find with Lego kits—assists users in successfully navigating the assembly. Those who have utilized the kit have noted that it promotes manual dexterity and problem-solving skills, which are essential components of child development. Many parents have found that the educational aspect of the toy has sparked interest in engineering concepts among children who previously showed little enthusiasm for hands-on crafting. However, a few drawbacks have been pointed out. Some users found the crane to be less stable than expected, which could detract from its playability. Additionally, while assembly can be a delightful challenge, younger children may struggle without adult supervision, particularly with the intricate water mechanics involved. Overall, the Smartivity Water Moving Robot Crane Craft Kit functions as a stimulating educational tool, highlighting the joy of creating and understanding complex mechanisms while fostering essential cognitive skills in an enjoyable format. **
