Pignose Combo Amps 7-100 Editorial Review
The Pignose 7-100 portable amplifier has garnered a solid reputation among musicians for its unique sound, robust build quality, and convenience, particularly appealing to those who lead a dynamic lifestyle. Many long-time players have come to rely on this amp, putting it at the center of their practice routines and performances for decades. The 7-100’s compact design allows it to be effortlessly transported and used in various locations, proving particularly favorable for busking and in settings where portability is crucial, such as apartments or during travel. Users appreciate the amp’s mellow, overdriven tones that evolve as battery power wanes, creating a distinctive character that stands out in smaller venues or casual environments. Though it is acknowledged that the Pignose does not deliver the pristine, clean sound that larger, studio-grade amplifiers like the Fender Twin offer, its ease of use, with a single volume control, encourages players to focus on their musicality rather than getting bogged down in technical adjustments. The longevity of battery life is frequently noted, with many users remarking that it offers great value given its under-a-hundred-dollar price tag. While there are calls for additional features, such as an extension speaker plug to enhance versatility, the existing options, including the ability to run the amp as a pre-amp, provide sufficient functionality for most players. Notably, the Pignose has a unique design that appeals aesthetically to a niche audience, particularly those with a fondness for its quirky pig theme. Overall, the Pignose 7-100 is lauded as a reliable, practical amplifier that embodies the spirit of convenience, making it a beloved choice among both seasoned musicians and casual players alike. **
