Amor Sacro: Vivaldi Mottetti
**** The album "Amor Sacro: Vivaldi Mottetti," featuring the renowned soprano Simone Kermes, has captured the hearts of classical music enthusiasts and baroque aficionados alike. Kermes's interpretation of Vivaldi's sacred music showcases her exceptional vocal prowess and emotional depth, propelling the album to new heights. Critics have noted her distinct sound, which diverges from typical baroque specialists, combining technical skill with a unique intensity that is both gripping and captivating. Listeners commonly express how they find themselves drawn back to the recording time and again, highlighting selections like "Nulla in mundo pax sincera" for their calming and revitalizing qualities after a challenging day. Indeed, Kermes's delivery is characterized by clean articulation, rhythmic precision, and excellent breath control, enabling her to navigate the dynamic contrasts within the pieces effortlessly. Among the seven motets, various critics appreciated the tempestuous energy in some works while also praising the introspective beauty found in others, particularly in performances that reflect contemplative themes. Production quality is also a Consistent high point, with robust sound reproduction that doesn't falter at peak volumes, making it a fantastic experience for both casual listening and deeper, more discerning examination. Moreover, Kermes's navigation of sacred music allows for a less theatrical experience compared to opera, resonating with those who appreciate the subtleties of vocal nuance over the grandiosity often found in operatic performances. This album, directed by the skilled Marcon, offers a delightful blend of precision, emotional richness, and clarity in both orchestral and vocal performances, solidifying its status as an essential listen for baroque music fans. **
