Aksys Games PS3-07 Editorial Review
** BlazBlue: Continuum Shift EXTEND for Xbox 360** BlazBlue: Continuum Shift EXTEND stands out as a vibrant entry in the 2-D fighting game genre, capturing players with its unique fusion of animated artistry and robust gameplay mechanics. The game is widely praised for its high-quality graphics—its characters and backgrounds evoking a distinct anime style that appeals to both fans of fighting games and anime culture alike. The gameplay introduces innovative fighting features, making it engaging for novices, while also presenting enough depth to challenge even seasoned players. Players have noted the game's accessible controls that facilitate a smooth learning curve, but many have voiced that mastering the combos requires significant practice and precision. The challenge mode offers players an opportunity to refine their skills, although some have expressed frustration with the game’s unforgiving endgame bosses, which seem to predict player moves almost instantly. This aspect can lead to a steep learning curve, prompting some users to turn down the difficulty to fully enjoy the storyline and game's offerings. The primary narrative unfolds through a text-heavy mode that intricately weaves fighting with character development, reminiscent of a dating simulation in its depth. However, it does introduce unique elements that differentiate it from titles like Guilty Gear, another successful franchise by the same developers. While there are mixed opinions on the character roster's diversity, players generally recognize the value for money provided by the game, Considering its engaging narrative and solid combat system. Overall, BlazBlue: Continuum Shift EXTEND is recommended for those who appreciate 2-D fighters, captivating storylines, and beautiful animation, despite the few criticisms regarding character variety and the difficulty spike at advanced levels. **
